George Gershwin's pulsating and jazz-inspired gifts weren't just limited to song writing; he
also transformed concert platforms with his popular self-taught gifts. His toe-tapping
brilliance is illustrated in this event with inspired concert music imbued with jazz and swing
elements. Gershwin was an accomplished pianist too.
Rhapsody in Blue epitomises the
composer's use of swing and smoochy melodies and will feature this evening's conductor
a self-confessed Gershwin devotee Andrew Litton.
