SUNDAY 8TH NOVEMBER 2009, 7.00PM
The Pink Ribbon Gala Concert
A star-studded evening of music, poetry and song in aid of Breast Cancer Campaign.
Presented by Simon Bates (Classic FM) with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra
Conducted by Debbie Wiseman
With special guests, including:
This concert has plenty of strings attached but only from the musicians as the
Royal Philharmonic Orchestra's violins, violas, cellos and double basses present their wares!
Not only are the profits from this evening supporting a good cause, it also boasts a
star-studded guest-list. The music includes the translucent beauty of Borodin's sweet
Nocturne (familiar in itself and also as part of the musical, Kismet), the time-honoured
serenity of Bach, and the rhythmic vitality of Britten and Holst. Debbie Wiseman's own
character pieces will delight the ear in their musical portraiture and appeal, while
Tchaikovsky displays warmth in his expansive
Serenade, a work which waltzes, elegises
and throbs with life. A classic line-up!
